Jersey Pinball Association PinGolf Final is Tomorrow
Jun 4th
The PinGolf Final will be on Saturday June 5, 2010 at 7:00 PM
After a wild flurry of PinGolf entries on the last day which caused a shakeup in the standings, the Jersey Pinball Association PinGolf Final participants have been determined.
In first place, with 18 strokes is Jim Fordham, recent winner of the JPA League Championship. In second place is Sanjay Shah, who came through with a great late entry under huge pressure on the last day. He posted a score of 20 strokes. In third place is Kevin Smigel, who posted a great score of 21 strokes earlier in the tournament, only to see it overtaken in the last minute by Sanjay.
Jim will start with a two stroke lead going into the first game of the Final, which will be the challenging, wide-outlaned, tilt-prone Monster Bash. The final will start at 7:00 PM on Saturday. The winner will receive a $180.00 cash prize, the runner-up will get $90.00, and the third place player will win $30.00.
Pin-Maine-ia IV is On!
May 28th
Maine’s premier pinball tournament, once thought to have been called off, is a thing that is happening June 25-27, 2010. Last year, the tournament hosted more than 66 players along with a number of other spectators. This year will be slightly scaled back, but the competition will be just as fun and furious. Click here for more information and to register for this fantastic event.
Last year, I helped to administer the scoring for the event. This gave me a little taste of the experience of running a pinball tournament, and helped me to concentrate more while playing.
I hope to see you there.
New JPA League Champion!
May 27th
After reigning for 1 1/2 years (3 league seasons) as the champion of the Jersey Pinball Association, I will have to give up my title to another great player, Jim Fordham. He was victorious in the League Final, 22-17, to win the league championship. He has set a goal for himself to qualify for next year’s IFPA World Championships. With his excellent finishes in Pinferno 3 and the Allentown Open, he is well on his way. I’m going to have to step up my game if I want to claim the New Jersey State Championship at July’s New Jersey Pinball Open. Congratulations to you, Jim. You are wearing the target now. Wear it with pride because we are all gunning for you.
As a side note, Jim is also starting new pinball website and forum. I will not post the link here yet because his site is still in beta. However, once it is officially live, you will know about it here.

The JPA PinGolf Prize Pool Passes $200.00!
May 6th
Spring 2010 JPA season ends on May 26, 2010
The PinGolf Final will be on June 2, 2010
A new challenge has just been thrown into the mix as 8 on the Break arcade has just added STERN’s Iron Man in place of Whitewater. Because of this, I will need to set a new target score for Iron Man wherein I will play ten games and take the average score. As always, I wish good luck to all players. For those competitors who are looking to get into this season’s tournament or improve their standing for the PinGolf Final, start your entries now as time is running out.
JPA PinGolf Prize Pool Increases!
Apr 1st

Thanks to the recent sponsorship of the tournament by Jim F. and more entries, the PinGolf Prize Pool is now at $125.00 as of today. It looks like Whitewater is becoming the easiest game of the five to get a hole-in-one as Paul D. scores an “ace” in his entry. Updated standings can be found at the Jersey Pinball Association PinGolf web page.
JPA PinGolf is Underway! First Hole-In-One Achieved!

Spring 2010 JPA season started on March 10, 2010

The entries have started to come in for the Jersey Pinball Association’s Spring 2010 PinGolf Tournament. Plus two people have confirmed a sponsorship so the prize pool will increase again soon. We also saw the first hole-in-one which was achieved by Sanjay S. on Whitewater. Initially, players felt the target scores were to high to reach. Soon they found that, if they obtained and use their extra balls properly, the scores are in fact reachable. I will make an effort to post information on the JPA PinGolf Tournament on rec.games.pinball as well as on the 8 on the Break Facebook page and Twitter. Hopefully, this will foster more participation in this tournament.
Jersey Pinball Association – Spring 2010 Season is Starting!
Mar 10th

The Jersey Pinball Association is beginning a new season of competitive pinball play this Wednesday, March 10. Among the games available are: Star Trek: The Next Generation, Whitewater, Demolition Man, Monster Bash, Fish Tales, FunHouse, The Addams Family, Star Wars: Episode One, and Attack from Mars. Along with traditional league play, there will be another side tournament in the style of “Pinball Golf” where you have up to ten balls to reach a target score. Each entry builds up a cash jackpot which I will award at the end of the season. PinGolf replaces the Gauntlet from last year. I hope that many players, from inside and outside of the JPA League, will try to qualify for the PinGolf Final so that there will be a huge jackpot prize pool.
JPA Gauntlet Tournament T-shirt
Jan 19th
Presenting… the official Jersey Pinball Association Gauntlet Tournament T-shirt. The tournament sponsors will each receive one of these shirts at the beginning of the Spring 2010 league season. I would like to take time to congratulate the winners of the JPA Gauntlet tournaments: Andrew Drabik – winner of the Spring 2009 tournament, and Jim Fordham – winner of the Fall 2009 tournament. I also would like to thank those players who sponsored the tournament: Koi Morris, Jim Fordham and Ed Zeltmann. Next season there will most likely be a PinGolf style tournament in addition to traditional league play. I’m looking forward to next season’s competition. For those of you who are interested, the Jersey Pinball Association meets on Wednesdays for 10 weeks in the Spring and in the Fall. The next season will begin in early March, and new players are always welcome.
IFPA PinGolf Challenge
Jan 5th
The International Flipper Pinball Association, in cooperation with STERN Pinball and the AMOA Show, held a Par 3 PinGolf Challenge event at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Competitors had to achieve a target score on two pinball games, NBA and CSI, while using the least number of balls as they could.
Players tried each game once, and then selected which of the two games would serve as their third game. The player with the lowest combined score won the tournament.
AMOA/AAMA Expo
Jan 2nd
The Amusement & Music Operators Association and the American Amusement Manufacturers Association Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada. Even though I don’t come CLOSE to owning an arcade, redemption games still give me an awful taste in my mouth.
