Jersey Pinball Association – Spring 2010 Season is Starting!

The Jersey Pinball Association is beginning a new season of competitive pinball play this Wednesday, March 10. Among the games available are: Star Trek: The Next Generation, Whitewater, Demolition Man, Monster Bash, Fish Tales, FunHouse, The Addams Family, Star Wars: Episode One, and Attack from Mars. Along with traditional league play, there will be another side tournament in the style of “Pinball Golf” where you have up to ten balls to reach a target score. Each entry builds up a cash jackpot which I will award at the end of the season. PinGolf replaces the Gauntlet from last year. I hope that many players, from inside and outside of the JPA League, will try to qualify for the PinGolf Final so that there will be a huge jackpot prize pool.

Destructoid group, Dtoid Penn are going to the 8 on the Break arcade in Dunellen, NJ. This is convenient, because I’m going to be there anyway to get in some pinball practice for the Scott’s Place Tournament as well as to prepare for the next season of the Jersey Pinball Association. Hey, I’ve got to defend the League Championship.

Sonic the Hedgehog Hotel Room?

Okay. I like Sonic as a character. I’m fine with most of the games, even a couple of 3D ones(?!). Of course, I hope the new Sonic 4 episodic games are going to be good. However, as far as being a “Sonic fan,” this is an example of going overboard.

This room compliments the Sonic the Hedgehog Roller Coaster at the Alton Towers Resort in the United Kingdom. Look at the lamps.. I think they are supposed to be emeralds. The bathroom even has sonic plush toys in it. Rings on the walls too… Well, at least the room has an XBOX 360, PS3 and Wii so you can get your Sonic on I guess…

Oh look! It’s a video for Sonic and Sega All-Stars. Yes, I will get it because I am a gullible idiot, thank you very much. Not for full price though… perish the thought. Also, screw sixaxis. 360 FTW on this one. Besides, if sixaxis is supposed to make you look as cool as the people in this commercial-like video, I’ll pass. No, I also don’t have the wheel for Super Mario Kart Wii because who needs the extra plastic.

Arcade Hunters Revisits 8 on the Break

Anytime my “home arcade” is featured, I have to post about it. Once again Nick! does a great job detailing some of the changes that have happened at “The Break” since his last visit. I wish he would visit during one of our league nights (Wednesdays) so that he, and his crew, could meet some of the pinball regulars. Speaking of which, the next season of the Jersey Pinball Association is set to start in early March. I’m sure that I speak for all of the members of the League when I say that pinball players of all skill levels are welcome to compete.

Cupids and Canines Rescheduled!

The Cupids and Canines Casino and Pinball Night has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 27, 2010. Updated details about the event can be found here. Cupids & Canines Casino Night 2010 will benefit the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society, and Bow Wow Buddies.

Where: PAPA World Headquarters in Scott Township, PA (directions)
When: Saturday, March 27, 2010, from 7pm to 10pm (or later)
(pinball tournament opens at 11am)
Why: A fun Valentine evening for you and your date!
