Playing in “A” is NEVER out of line. I played “B” at my first PAPA because that’s where all of my friends in the JPA league were playing. I qualified relatively easily, but I didn’t win “B”. Once you get into the playoffs anything can happen. Anyway, once the WPPR points system was getting into gear, I stated amassing a significant amount of points from playing in tournaments like P3, Fairfax, Allentown, and others. I felt that I was ranked too high to play in “B”, so I started playing in “A” from then on. It’s difficult, but it’s always nice to play against the best in the world. Each year, I try to convince players from our league to come over to “A” with me… By the way, the first 7 parts of the Pin-Maine-ia video are done (YouTube has that 10-minute limit), I am going to upload them soon.

I’m giving PAPA some serious consideration. If I go I would go either as a B or an A. I think I would want to try and qualify for the A division, so I can see if I can hold my own with the best of the best. The pinball was great at
Pin Maine-ia only to be beat by the great social aspect of it. I’m hoping PAPA is the same, just on a much larger scale.

For a first timer PAPA player, do you think trying for the A division is out of line, and I should start as a B? At your first PAPA what division did you go into?

You HAVE to go to PAPA! At least challenge the “B” division. Since it’s your first time you COULD register for the C division, but “C” if for truly casual players, and you’ve proven that you are better than that by finishing 4th out of 68 players at Pin-Maine-ia. Hey, you beat me out, and I’m playing in “A” division. See you at PAPA!

What a great weekend. It was awesome to meet new people, and see other styles of play.I can’t wait for the next tourney, I’m thinking about doing PAPA…I hope to see some familiar faces down there.
